After that, the business in this place was going well. 「There are even requests at the guild and he is gathering the adventurers. Maa, it seems that the guild could not refuse them.」

「Why is he gathering them?」

「Well, maybe so that he can take over this place? Because we built this place, it has become difficult to live in that town.」

As I was helping out at the food stall at night, the people from the guild and the adventurers were drinking alcohol while talking about various things. Their voices were so obviously loud, was this for us to let Director-sensei know?

And so, there was news that the feudal lord, who did not have enough soldiers, started recruiting thugs. After assembling a certain number of them, there may be some movement.

A few days after collecting such information, there was some development. A messenger sent by the feudal lord came. The messenger had worked under the feudal lord for a long time, so Director-sensei, the people from the guilds, and some people among the merchants knew them.

The messenger, who seemed to be truly apologetic, handed the letter to Director-sensei. She read it, and discussed it with everyone else. After that, she gave her response to the messenger, and he returned. The messenger bowed their head several times and returned.

「In the end, what did they come here for?」

When the messenger returned, the orphanage group gathered and asked about what had happened. I was listening secretly, so I wasn’t sure about the details, but it seems that the feudal lord was telling us to pay the tax.

「Why do we have to pay the tax!」

「The feudal lord said that it was because this was his land.」

「Nn? Hey, didn’t the occhan at the gate say before that this land did not belong to anyone?」
