We had stayed at the harbor city orphanage for a few days, and Cruz-kun and the others returned. One could take a break after taking on a long-term request, but

「We accepted another escort request , so we’re departing again.」

is what they said. It seems that thanks to the harbor city adventurer group who steadily gained their trust, they were able to continue taking on requests and they accepted another one right after reporting the completion of their request at the Adventurer Guild, so they were quite busy.

However, because we were prolonging our stay due to the escort request, it would be best to get in touch with Director-sensei, let’s have a carrier Seacat, not a carrier pigeon, deliver a letter. Currently, there were fifteen Seacats, and with three in a group, I’ll have them send it in place of carrier pigeons. In terms of speed, it would be better to ask Pii-chan, but it would be dangerous if it was attacked when it was by itself, so it became the Seacats’ job. 

While we were at the harbor city, Cruz-kun and the others completed their escort request well. Since it was a harbor city, the destinations did not just include the imperial capital, so there were requests that would take you to other towns as well and Cruz-kun and the others said that though they were inferior compared to the capital, they were as prosperous as the harbor city and that it was fun. Though it was the same country, there were also regions where there was not a lot of discrimination, and they said that if everyone was going to go, then those places would be nice, so I was looking forward to it.

Queen and the others would occasionally follow along on escort requests. We understood that the wolves would come with us on the trips, and their keen senses were also taken into consideration when working on the requests, so there was a wolf with someone at all times. However, when we went to a certain town, there was a danger zone where bandits and monsters appeared in large numbers, so in order to pass through, Queen and the wolf cubs went together with us. 

I was not very happy about that, but it seems that the monsters attacked many times as expected, so Cruz-kun, Queen, and the others fought them happily. The harbor city adventurer group was doing their jobs properly as escorts, so that was good, but would there be a scolding again?

While Cruz-kun and the others were away, I gathered information while helping the cooking group. Though I said that, I was able to cook, so I just helped with the food stall, but it was oriented towards sailors, so it was very busy.

The sailors obviously lived on the sea, so they usually ate preserved foods and fish, so it seems that they were hungry for meat. Of course, it was easy for ships that traveled along the coast to replenish stock, so not all sailors were craving meat though….

「It’s safe going along the coast, but it takes a long time.」

「I heard that there’s a country far away across the sea that has strange clothes, rare food, and alcohol.」

「There are pirates on the many islands that are on the way to the next continent, so we need to be careful.」

「When going out into the sea, large monsters appear as well, so you’re putting your life on the line when you cross the sea.」

When I took out the alcohol at the food stall, the sailors taught me various things. From what they said, traveling by sea was not easy, so it seems that future trips were still a long way off. At the very least, if I couldn’t find a high-performance ship or a familiar that could fight underwater, then I probably wouldn’t be able to go on the trip.

After that, while Cruz-kun and the others were taking on the request, I still helped out at the food stall and procured various information. As expected, the country at the edge of the sea was basically one that was similar to Japan, so the weapons would be Japanese swords, the seasonings would be miso and soy sauce, and if there’s rice, then there might be Japanese sake. If it’s Ojii-san, who loved alcohol, he would be pleased with the Japanese sake.

「Alright, let’s return!」

「It took longer than expected.」

After taking on a few escort requests, Cruz-kun and Ilya-chan’s guild rank finally rose. If it rose to Rank 6 or 7, then one would typically be seen as an adventurer, so most of the children from the orphanage were at that rank. Although things were going well, it seems that Cruz-kun wanted to get a higher rank, so if my younger sister and I became adventurers, we might be grinding every day to raise our ranks. Come to think of it, what was Sakuya-chan going to do?

「No request on the way back?」

「As expected, I couldn’t find any here.」

「Queen and the others seem satisfied as well; should we take our time when going back?」

The objective, or rather, they took on the escort requests in order to raise their ranks, so when the rank had gone up, there was no longer a need to rush to accept requests. We were here longer than expected, so there were large amounts of seafood, so perhaps we wouldn’t be coming to the harbor city for a while, and as I was thinking such things, we returned to the orphanage.
