「Alright then, let’s depart~!」

At Cruz-kun’s shout, Ilya-chan, my younger sister, Sakuya-chan, our guardian Ojii-san, and I departed on an escort request heading to the harbor city.

Although Cruz-kun and Ilya-chan had become adventurers, they had been turning in their medicinal herbs at a young age, so their ranks had been raised and with the cooperation of Queen and the others on their subjugation requests, they had achieved quite a lot, so in order to raise it to the next rank, they accepted an escort request. Since the orphanage’s children had always visited the Adventurer Guild frequently, their strength and their characters had been acknowledged, so this went smoothly.

However, regarding the escort request, a small problem arose. Basically, we planned on working in a group of four (five people, if we’re including Sakuya-chan), but right now, there were only two people, and we were unable to meet the requirements for recruitment.

There were Queen and the others as well, so the strength, or rather, the ability to escort was not a problem, but as expected, two people seemed a little unreliable, regardless of our true strength. On the other hand, the client would also be troubled that my younger sister and I were bringing the familiars with us. We could also ask someone from the adventurer group, but everyone had been busy recently, so I didn’t know if there was anyone who would go with us….

「Oya, everyone, going to work?」

It seems that the merchant came to the guild to look for escorts. 

「There’s only two of us, is that ok?」

「Yes, but Shuu-kun and the others are coming together, right?」

It seems that they were expecting my, or rather, Queen and the others’ escort ability. Maa, we would only be able to receive two people’s retaining fee, but it was a good thing for everyone to be able to go.

We had a good chat with each other, so we accepted the request, but I was surprised that the merchant had shrewdly changed the destination from the neighboring town to the harbor city. As expected, merchants were cunning. 

The next day, we were both ready to leave at any time, so we departed at once. Since we were going to the harbor city anyways, we will transport the lumber as well.

The merchants seemed to be loading potions, medicinal herbs, dried meat, and monster materials onto two horse carriages.

「Somehow, it’s more leisurely than normal.」

「Isn’t it good if it’s like this every once in a while.」

We were escorting today, so Cruz-kun, Ilya-chan, my younger sister, and I were patrolling around the horse carriages. Queen and the wolf cubs went to scout out the surroundings. We asked Ojii-san and Sakuya-chan to go onto our horse carriage.

Usually, we would speed up due to the strength of the Steppe Horses, but as expected, we wouldn’t be able to be escorts if we went at our usual speed, so we matched the pace of the merchant’s horse carriages. It seems that because of that, Cruz-kun and the others felt unhurried. 

「But, Cruz-kun, this is a normal escort, you know? 」

「Yes, usually, everyone runs away in an instant. If it’s everyone, then you would probably get a lot of escort requests, and it may be best to get used to it now.」

The merchant joined in on our conversation. As expected, from the perspective of the requestor, it seems that having Queen and the others on the escort team would give them a sense of security. The merchants usually knew about us, so it’s all the more reassuring.

The first escort request started at such a leisurely pace.
