KT Chapter 267

Happy Wednesday!

Here’s the chapter, enjoy.

「The major companies all bought up the medicinal herbs, so I wasn’t able to buy any at all.」

「The entry tax to go into town has increased again; it’s harsh.」

「I wasn’t able to stock up on potions at all either.」

「It would be good if I could buy them directly from the adventurers here, but if monsters came, I would be a little scared….」

Currently, we were having a luncheon meeting in the name of gathering information. Basically, this street stall village here had a lineup of goods for adventurers heading to Dragon Forest and adventurers returning to the town, so it was busy in the morning and evening, and relatively free in the afternoon. So we started talking to the other street stall merchants and treated them to lunch while taking the opportunity to gather information.

I knew most of the information I was hearing and it was mostly things that I had expected, but my acquaintances had increased, so let’s consider that a win.

「However, just how many Grey Wolves were there?」

「Let’s see, there’s quite a few of them….」

In the middle of the conversation, the topic turned to the wolves. The reason why they opened a stall here was because of the visible strength of the wolves. Although it was the entrance to the forest, monsters would appear. Though I said that, most of them were Horned Rabbits and Grey Wolves. Then at the very least, if the Grey Wolves were here, even if we were under attack, we would be more than evenly matched. It seems that they had considered that. Maa, I thought that they were depending on others too much, but our wolves had been trained by Queen and had gotten considerably stronger, so there were no problems even if you had expectations of them.

「Our wine is delicious! The production volume is small, so it’s a little expensive.」

「It’s better to be careful of the republic. If you’re negligent, your money would be taken away forcibly.」

「The empire is a meritocracy, so if you’re going to bring your familiars with you, then you should be careful.」

It seems that the merchants didn’t plan on being protected for free, so in exchange, they gave me various information. They told me about the specialties of their hometown, alcohol, and told me information about the neighboring countries. Previously, I heard about it at the harbor city, but information from another perspective would be helpful as well.

As we had such a luncheon-and-information-gathering meeting, the adventurers would join in every once in a while. From them, I got information from the adventurers’ point of view.

And so, as we were leisurely doing business, the number of shops gradually increased, and if there were more, the number of adventurers who would come would go up as well, and what was somewhat similar to a market gradually became bigger and bigger.

As it grew, the number of working adventurers staying here for the night had increased as well. This was probably because the merchants, including us, were sleeping outdoors, but because it was easy for people to buy and shop here, a moderate number of people were staying the night here so that they could use the time spent returning to town to explore the forest. Especially the newcomers, since there was not much difference between a cheap inn and camping outside.

And, as the number of people staying overnight increased, dinner became necessary, and since our bread was takeout food, we started serving meat skewers and soup that could be eaten on the spot. The ingredients came from the nearby area, so for adventurers, the meat being a lot more than the amount served in town was a good thing.

「Hey, you guys should eat properly as well!」

「Y, yes! Thank you for the food!」

「You guys, are you drinking!?」

「Ou, jii-san is drinking way too much.」

We were staying the night and as per Ojii-san’s request, I took out the alcohol. As expected, it would be troublesome for him to be dead drunk here, so it was mostly weak alcohol, but Ojii-san came here every day to drink.

It was noisy every day, but Ojii-san was very kind, and treated newcomers to food and veterans to alcohol, so he was popular, or rather, he had become a specialty here.

In a few days, something like Ojii-san’s swordsmanship class was going to be held.

By the way, Ojii-san, who were those people who obviously looked strong and were placing their arms around each other’s shoulders?
